How to Remove Stickers From Glass and Mirrors

So… I’ve got this huge mirror in my garage and I want to sell it on Craigslist. But, it has this annoying “I’m Special” sticker on it. I tried scraping it off with a credit card, but only got so far. I’m pretty sure a razor blade would work well, but then again that might scratch it… and – I don’t have one.

I think some sort of solvent or perhaps soap and water might work? Hmm… well I found this video and they recommend using WD-40.

This dude recommends using a hair dryer to get stickers off.

How to Uninstall Carbonite on Mac OS X

Ok, I’m really annoyed.  I installed Carbonite the other day and now my trial is up.  But now I keep getting this error message saying that Carbonite can’t connect or whatever.  So, I’m ready to uninstall it.  If you’re in the same boat, here’s how to do it:

I suppose if you have a paid version, the instructions are easier.  Here are the steps to take according to the Carbonite official web site.

But… if you installed the demo they make it a little bit harder.  I’m actually looking for instructions right now and am pretty angry at Carbonite.  Who are they to make it almost impossible to remove an app from MY COMPUTER?  Needless to say I’ll never use Carbonite and am going to spread the word so others don’t use them.

Wow… no matter where I look on my Mac there is no way to remove it.  I sent off a nasty email to Carbonite.  Hmm…. perhaps a lawsuit might get their attention?  Ha!

I’m gonna get really nasty with them.  Will have to continue this post later.  Until then, try this link out if you are an unfortunate individual that installed the demo.

Update: Ok, I found the instructions that work.  What a pain in the …. I really want to choke someone over at Carbonite.  Anyway, try this if you installed the trial for Mac.  I’m using Snow Leopard.

1. Restart your Computer.

2. Control click on Finder on the dock and select ‘Go to Folder’.

3. Type /Library/Application Support/ into the window that appears.

4. Move the ‘Carbonite’ folder to the Trash.

5. Control-click on the Application Support folder in the header bar and click the Library folder.

6. Go to the Contextual Menu Items folder and move ‘CarboniteCMM.bundle’ to the trash.

7. Go back to the /Library folder and go into the LaunchAgents folder.

8. Delete ‘com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitealerts.plist’ and ‘com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitestatus.plist’.

9. Go back to the /Library folder, and to into LaunchDaemons.

10. Move ‘com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitedaemon.plist’ to the trash.

11. Go back to the /Library folder, and to into PreferencePanes.

12. Move ‘Carbonite.prefPane’ to the Trash. 13. Restart your computer again. 14. Empty your trash.

UPDATE: Coming soon! A brand new video tutorial to show you how to uninstall Carbonite on your Mac, and also a new article will be added to show you how to do it on your PC.

How to Get Organized and DeClutter Your Life

Clutter and disorganization holds us back from our true potential. A messy desk, and spending hours looking for lost receipts, recipes, or concert tickets, is not productive.  Some people claim to know exactly where everything is in their huge pile. These are the same people who can never find anything, and don’t realize they’ve got three new boxes of laundry detergent buried underneath all of those dirty clothes.

It’s time to get organized! Even a few small steps can save valuable minutes during your day, keep your head clear and focused, and help achieve that general sense of well-being we all want. Here are a few tips and tricks to get started:

1. Tackle your biggest problem areas first. This will make the most significant dent, and give you a sense of satisfaction that will keep you motivated.  If your dining room table is constantly a collection point for bills, backpacks, and miscellaneous junk, designate new areas for these items.

2. Set a good example for your kids.  Demanding that your children straighten up their rooms, while your space is a disaster zone is rather hypocritical. Show your kids that you’re determined to get organized, and hopefully the behavior will rub off on them.

3. Here’s a quick tip to free up some major space: store off-season clothes in your empty suitcases. This will keep your dresser drawers bulge free, and will give that space hogging luggage a bigger purpose in life.

4. Keep a box or bin near your closet, a place where you can easily drop clothes that don’t fit, have untreatable stains, or are just make you look like an oompa-loompa. Once the box is full take it to the Goodwill or Salvation Army or add it to your garage sale stash.

5. Put stuff away that you don’t use regularly. If you’ve got an old curler set on your vanity or an old mixer on your kitchen counter, and you haven’t used these items in months, or years, find another place to store them.

6. Do a monthly purge. Take 20 minutes and move room to room looking for items that can be sold, donated, or trashed.

7. If you’ve just got too much stuff and feel overwhelmed, consider renting a storage unit. Move any non-essential item into the storage unit. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to get by without all your precious stuff! You can slowly organize and purge items in the storage unit, and keep items like Christmas decorations and sports equipment safely stored, and not taking up precious closet space.
