How to Import Tumblr to WordPress

@jiiigsaw on Twitter asked: “so now that i have this domain, do i install wordpress & import my old tumblr entries, set up tumblr with my new domain, or something else?”

I saw your question on search.twitter.com and thought I could help.  Now that you have a domain name, I suggest installing WordPress on the domain and import your Tumblr posts.   You’ll rank better in the search engines, have more control over your blog and not have to worry about additional terms of service rules with Tumblr.

Here’s a tool to help you export Tumblr to WordPress:  Tumblr to WordPress Export Tool’

Use Titles to Get Ideas

Along with generating ideas for nonfiction books, write down titles that come to mind.  You might want to start a separate section in your notebook to list your book title ideas.  A book’s title can make a significant difference in the sales.  Sometimes books are sold on the title alone.  If you can think of a really good title, you might simply start with that and write a book around that title.  Good titles can increase sales by many thousands.  A good title can make itself lead to a good book idea, or starting point at least.  Look around the book store or online and take note of titles that catch your eye.  Do this often and try to develop a feel for book titles.  Study the titles of books that are on best seller lists.  Are there any patterns you notice?  Start with title and cover - then write book.

Hypnosis and Affirmations

Use hypnosis and affirmations to help you get ideas and improve your writing.  There are many hypnosis tapes and CD’s on the market, so why not use them?  A good company to get hypnosis tapes from is Potentials Unlimited.

There are hypnosis programs on creative thinking and creative writing as well as some on many other subjects.  You can listen to them as you are going to sleep or while you take a nap.  You might also want to try writing positive affirmations to help you create more and better book ideas.  Write simple positive affirmations on a piece of paper or 3 x 5 card and read it aloud several times throughout the day.  You can write it however you like, but you might try something such as:  “I am easily finding and creating nonfiction book ideas on a daily basis”.  Write your affirmations in the present tense as if they are already happening.  Read them several times every day.

Use Old Ideas

Are there any old books you have found or ran into that are out of print and could be updated and sold again?  Keep your eyes open when looking at older books in the library, garage sales, thrift shops, antique stores, etc.  If you can’t find an old book that needs reviving, perhaps you can borrow the style of an old book and blend it with a modern topic.  There may be topics that were written about in the past that didn’t work well that might work well now.  Who knows what ideas you might come up with?  So, keep your eyes and mind open when you run into older books.  Contact authors of these older books and ask how they did.

Levanzo, Italy Live Webcam!

Take a look at two live webcams from Levanzo, Italy which show a port, boats, homes right on the beach and water…look at the tiny cars, too.  Only thing that’s dumb is the webcam updates once every 12 hours.  This is a small island east of Sicily by Trapani.  Island is called Egadi’s Archipelago I think.  View the Levanzo Italy webcam.
