Casio Exilim EX-F1 Digital Camera Review

DigitalRev.com reviews the Casio Exilim EX-F1 digital camera.  This is an amazing digital camera which some have called a crossover camera as it not only takes still photos, but shoots HD video as well as slow motion at up to 1200 fps!  This is the first camera on the market of this kind, and I think it’s safe to say this is what a lot of cameras are going to look like in the future.

Casio Exilim EX-F1 boasts the world’s fastest burst shooting mode at 60fps. Capable of slowing down time with movie captures at up to 1200fps, the EX-F1 is one of the fastest cameras around.

Personally, I’m selling all of my cameras and am going to buy one of these.  Watch and read the full review here: Casio Exilim EX-F1 - First Impression Video.

Take a Walk

Whenever you start feeling overwhelmed or are having trouble finding an idea and need some exercise, get out of the house and go for a walk.  Do so right now if you feel the need.  Walking helps clear your head and allows you to see everything from a better perspective.  If you stay inside too long you can get too close to your problems and it is more difficult to find a solution.

You might try bringing a micro recorder or pen and paper with you in case you think of a good idea on your walk.  If you are really motivated, run, go for a bike ride or do some other physical activity you can lose yourself in.  If you’ve been inactive for awhile, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start doing this more often!

Let Others Write

Do you hate writing and simply cannot see yourself writing a book or have no desire to?   But, you love books and the idea of publishing.  Well, why not set up a publishing company and let others do the writing and you split the profits.  Of course, you get the bulk of the profits and the author gets a smaller percentage.

You can get a listing in the Writer’s Market and wait for the book proposals to come in.  If you get a proposal you like and are excited about and have a good gut feeling about and it passes all of the many other hurdles, then let the author do the writing.  The good part is you don’t have to go through the painstaking task of writing the book.  The downside is you have to deal with all of the legal issues and paperwork.  So, you will have to think about this and figure out which pain is worse.

Is it more painful to simply quit procrastinating and write a book yourself, or would you rather put up with the pain of the technical legal stuff of contracts, agreements, royalties, etc.  This may require some time to think about.  You could  test it out and see what kind of book proposals come your  way and decide from there.  It all comes down to which pain you are willing to deal with more.  Think about it and make a decision.

Reverse Your Viewpoint

Another angle to look at when coming up with a book idea is to reverse the viewpoint of many popular and overdone books.  Could a book on a high carb diet work?  There are many books on how to design web sites and make them look spectacular.  Vincent Flanders and Michael Willis reversed this viewpoint and wrote Web Pages That Suck in an effort to help web designers learn from other’s mistakes.

Write a book with a reverse twist and whack people’s thinking.  Keep this in mind as you browse bookstores, libraries and look other places for ideas.  A book written with a reverse slant just might be appealing to a certain segment of the market.

Look for Gaps in Your Area of Specialization

When researching in your area of interest, take note of what is missing and not covered.  What red flags go off in your head as to what’s missing?  When you read magazines and browse the shelves in bookstores and libraries, do you notice an area of your interest that hasn’t been written about?  Ultimately that is what you want to do to maximize your chance of success.

You want to fill a void and be the first one to do so.  It will have to be a void that is important and truly adds value to others that are interested in that subject as well.  What cracks need filled?  Even if a subject has already been covered you can still write about that same subject.  Just do a better job.

If a book has already gained a lot of popularity, you will have a tough time competing though as the first will stick in the mind of buyers the most.  But, you never know.  It could work for you.  Think of problems that need solved or solutions you have that no one has written about.  Find a need and fill it.

The Phone Book

Is it possible to find book ideas in your local yellow pages?  Let’s give it a shot.  Go find your phone book and take a look through the yellow pages.  First thing that comes to mind is that this in itself is a directory put together by a company and they are making money off of it.  If you live in a large populated area, how about writing a guide for dining out?

Or, think nationally and compile a directory on plumbers.  Perhaps a book on how businesses can maximize their advertising dollar in phone books?  Since the yellow pages consists of businesses and businesses need more business, what book could you provide to help these businesses?  Don’t just think about the local businesses near you – think globally.  If you’re a lawyer, a doctor, a mechanic, photographer or hair dresser and you’ve succeeded you could write a book and share your secrets with the same type of businesses.
