Ideas for Robert Ringer’s Blog, Part I

by manatee on October 28, 2008

Robert Ringer is one of my favorite self-help authors that has written several best selling books including Looking Out for #1, Winning Through Intimidation and Million Dollar Habits.  Click here to view his books on Amazon.com.

I’ve been blogging for about 3 years now and sent his staff a suggestion about a year ago that he should set up a blog to help promote his site, books and other products.  Well, it looks like Robert now has a blog and it appears that it went online sometime in September, 2008.  Robert Ringer’s blog can be found at Blog.RobertRinger.com.

Robert’s most recent post is: The Circle of Life, Part II.

I’ve got a ton of ideas, tips and suggestions I would like to give to you, Robert as I’m a big fan and want to see your blog succeed.  I almost emailed you these tips, but then I thought…. “Why not make a blog post so that other people can use these tips as well?”.

I’m going to make this a multi part series, so I’ll call this one Part I.  I’ll write these as they come to my head, so I hope you don’t mind if they are in a semi-random order.  So, without further ado… here are some ideas to help improve your blog:

1 - Set up a Twitter account to use with your blog.  I emailed your staff as I reserved a Twitter name that you can use.  The twitter name is: twitter.com/robertringer.  If you can’t find the password, just let me know and I can resend it to you.  Why use Twitter?  Read this article at Problogger: 9 Benefits of Twitter for Bloggers.

2 - Read and Study Problogger! This is the ultimate resource for bloggers.  How to increase blog traffic, monetize your blog, fight spammers and more.  Darren Rowse is the #1 authority on how to blog (in my opinion).  Visit ProBlogger.com.

3 - Make it easier for readers to comment. I noticed you require readers to register before they can comment.  I’d consider removing this requirement.  Perhaps add it later when you start getting TONS of comments.  If you haven’t done so already, consider installing the Akismet plugin to minimize blog comment spam.

4 - Start an audio podcast and/or videocast! People ABSOLUTELY LOVE podcasts and video casts.  We can listen to your words of wisdom while driving, at work, going for a walk, etc.  Make an audio podcast and it can be used to further promote your blog and other products.

5 - Start posting videos on YouTube. You might consider creating an account on YouTube.com and post a video perhaps once a week or month or whenever you feel like it.  This is another great way to enhance a blog and drive traffic to it, gain regular readers, customers, etc.  You can put your blog URL at the very beginning of your video description and it will be an active link.  People that find your video on YouTube can then go to your blog.  Speaking of this, I found this video interview of you by “LibertarianYou”.  Sorry, first 1 minute and 4 seconds is annoying color bar thingy.

6 - Install Adsense Deluxe WordPress Plugin. This is a nice plugin for WordPress that makes it easier to post and manage your Adsense ads on your blog.  You can download it here: Adsense WordPress Plugin.

Well, that’s about it for now.  I have many more ideas and will add them when I get a chance. It’s getting late here and I should probably get some shut-eye…. :)

To be continued…
