iPhone 3G Crash: Black Screen of Death

I’ve heard a number of times about iPhones crashing left and right and knew in the back of my head it was only a matter of time for this to happen to me. Well, today my number was drawn and my iPhone crashed while installing an app which tracked your location via the GPS thingy and plots your course. If my iMac wasn’t bogged down trying to restore my iPhone, I might be able to find out what app it was. I’ll find out in the next day or two if I’m lucky. The restore process takes forever!

My screwup is the application was still in the process of installing and I got impatient and decided to check my email. That’s when I got the black screen of death. The white apple logo and a black background was all I could get, no matter how many times I rebooted. I finally decided to restore by pressing the home button while plugging the iPhone into the USB port. Then the restore process started.

The restore process finished (I thought) but when I went to iTunes and it wanted to restore again. Hopefully, Apple will get some of these glitches fixed sooner than later. This has cost me at least 6 hours so far in lost iPhone time. I wonder if I will be able to get all the apps I purchased back onto my iPhone? :(

One Hundred Push Ups Challenge: Week 2 Finished?

I have finished week two of the One Hundred Push Ups program and kind of struggled this week.  I screwed up and didn’t do my push ups on schedule, but… I did technically finish week 2.  I was in the second column as I was in week 1, and in the end did 46 total pushups on day 3.

I’m not satisified with how I did this week, so I’m going to backtrack a little bit.  At the start of week 3 it is recommend you repeat the week you struggled with if you feel like you’re falling behind.  I’ve decided since I’m off schedule that I’m going to do week 1 this week and next week start fresh with week 3.

Not too much to add here except I notice that the first set of push ups seem to be the hardest.  When you get warmed up with the first set the others aren’t quite as painful.

What about you?  Where are you and how are you doing with your 100 pushups challenge?

Teenage Kid Turns $620 into $325,000 in Less Than a Year

Earlier I wrote an article titled How to Make Money Buying and Selling Domain Names.  I’d like to expand on that a little bit with an article I recently found on Forbes called Flipping For Domains.  The story tells how Steven McDonald, a teenage kid from Connecticut started flipping domains in September 2007.  He started with the domain qsd.com he bought for $620.  He turned around and sold that name for $12,000.  After that he simply repeated the process and now is over a quarter of a million dollars richer.

Am I the only one here that feels stupid?

Well, this is the kick in the pants I needed to get focused on this.  I have some 89 domain names, and a bunch of them I’ve been thinking about selling.  No more thinking… time to start flipping!  I’ve had some success with this in the past, so I’m going to seriously consider putting a large portion of my time into this.

I’ve just listed EarthMall.com for $10,000 on Sedo.com.  Anyone care to buy?  :)

I’m going to make a complete list of places where YOU can buy domain names and try to cash in as well.  Subscribe to my blog feed and stay tuned!

Where Did The Watchman Go?

Back in the good ol’ days before Oprah and mainstream media discovered YouTube, there was a guy who called himself The Watchman and self proclaimed to “defend the creators of original content against injustice from other users in the YouTube comments section.” Personally, I thought he was one of the funniest guys on YouTube. I wonder… will The Watchman ever return?

I’m going to send him a quick email after this blog post and encourage him to do another video. Maybe if enough people beg, he will return and do another video. Visit The Watchman55 YouTube channel and send him an email if you want to do the same.

aSleep iPhone App Review

If you have trouble falling asleep or taking a satisfying nap, take a look at aSleep for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  aSleep is a simple white noise/sound generator that you can turn on at night or when you want to close your eyes and imagine your somewhere else for awhile.

It has a timer that can automatically shut the sounds off after a specified amount of time.  Currently sounds include Rain, Wind, Beach, Forest, Relax and Meditation.  Personally, I think Rain is the best…although I’d like to see some thunder mixed occasionally.

Print on Demand Publishers

Have you dreamed of writing a book but are afraid you’ll never get a book deal?  Maybe you have already written a book but have received nothing but rejection slips in the mail.  You know your book will sell, but just can’t get your foot in the door.  The best solution (especially for nonfiction books) is to self publish.  For a long time, self publishing meant  you would have to take a big financial risk.  Until now.  There are many print on demand book publishers that allow you to do a test run and print as little as 25 copies of your book!  With some of these services, you can make a PDF file of your book complete with cover art, upload it and in a few days receive glossy cover printed copies of your book.  Check out one company I have had good luck with if you’re considering self publishing.  Visit InstantPublisher.com.
